Biodegradable sneakers with looks good enough to literally wear into the ground
The recyclable Oat Shoes are one of the fist eco-friendly shoes that do not look like they were designed in the middle Ages. Founder Christiaan Maats (Dutch.. so proud!) took on this awesome but almost impossible project of designing and fabricating decomposable footwear as a continuation of his graduation project in product design. Two years further the Amsterdam-based label introduced prototypes of its Virgin Collection, cool shoes constructed from hemp canvas, bio-cotton, cork and certified biodegradable plastic, earning the company second prize at the Green Fashion Awards last January.
These babies can literally be buried in your garden when you are finished with them! isn't that super cool!! But this isn't even the coolest part about the shoe! Did you know that hemp canvas is naturally antibacterial and a fantastic moisture-wicker, which also extends wearability. These shoes are the BOMB!
